¡Viva el Zorro! Lolita Pulido

¡Viva el Zorro! is a scenario I will be running at Chupacabracon IV over the weekend May 12th through 14th in Austin,TX, this year. It’s kind of a test run for Los Enmascarados, a proposed Savage Worlds Super Powers Companion-compatible mini-setting of masked avengers in independent Mexico before the Mexican-American War.

In ¡Viva el Zorro!, the players take on the roles of Zorro’s supporting cast from the original Johnston McCulley stories – his fiancée Lolita Pulido, his friend Don Audre Ruiz, his servant Bernardo, the reformed pirate Bardoso, the boastful Sgt. Gonzales, and others – as they organize a plan to rescue Zorro from the grasping Capitán Torello. Characters are created using the Rising Stars campaign style and the Pulp Heroes Power Level, with some interpolations from Deadlands Reloaded.

from Zorro: The Chronicles

Lolita Pulido
Seasoned Wild Card

Don Diego Vega’s long-suffering fiancée hails from a caballero family as distinguished as the Vegas, if not so successful monetarily or politically. The rancho of her father, Don Carlos Pulido, was stripped of lands by the governor in Sacremento, and punitive taxes decreased the family fortune. The family fortunes have risen through Zorro’s intercession in recent years, and the fiery young woman feels she owes a debt of honor to Zorro perhaps greater than the love she feels for the dashing hero.

Lolita Pulido is trained in the arts expected of a Mexican doña – including riding and the leadership required to run a household – and so is a more formidable personality than her pampered upbringing might suggest. Having been caught up in several of Zorro’s adventures (including kidnapping by pirates and Capitán Torello’s predecessor, the fiendish Ramon), Lolita has also picked up the rudiments of self-defense.

Unfortunately for her and Diego, the young lady has contracted consumption. Though she but in the early stages of her illness, eventually it will bring her life to a tragic early end.
